Fellhof's contribution to a sustainable future

Natural. Sustainable.

Commitment to a green future

Step by step towards greater responsibility

We are aware of the urgency of actively contributing to a sustainable future. We have already taken the first steps toward greater sustainability and are continuously implementing measures that strengthen our environmental, economic, and social responsibility.

Overview of initiatives

Responsibility for a sustainable future

Our goal is to continuously make our processes and products more resource-efficient, while striking a balance between ecological, economic, and social aspects. At Fellhof, we take responsibility for a sustainable future and focus on three pillars of sustainability: ecology, economy, and social issues. On this page, you will find an overview of the current progress and results of our initiatives.

Ecology, Social Issues & Economy

Fellhof aims to strike a balance between environmental protection, social justice, and economic stability with a three-pillar model. All three pillars are important for a good and livable coexistence. Responsibility for a livable future.

3 pillars of sustainability

Our responsibility for the environment, economy, and society

By consistently pursuing the three pillars of sustainability—ecology, social issues, and economics—we are making a step-by-step contribution to a sustainable world.

1. Ecology

Fellhof is committed to resource-saving processes, the responsible use of raw materials, and the protection of ecosystems in order to preserve an intact environment for future generations.

2. Social

Fellhof takes responsibility within its own company and along the supply chain, is committed to fair working conditions, and promotes equal opportunities and social projects. With the BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative) certificate, we ensure that our supply chain meets strict social standards and is continuously monitored. We are convinced that social justice is the basis for sustainable success.

3. Economy

Economic stability is crucial for long-term action and innovation. Fellhof's actions are based on ethical principles and aim to create sustainable added value for customers, partners, suppliers, and employees, supported by responsible corporate governance.

Production standards

Social and environmental responsibility in manufacturing

Fellhof products consist of a wide range of components: leather and fur products, soles, wool, felt, upper materials, and accessories such as zippers, Velcro fasteners, yarns, buttons, and much more. Hang tags and packaging are also important components.

Responsible manufacturing processes

We want to use environmentally friendly materials for as many of our product components as possible and manufacture them sustainably. To this end, we set clear rules for our suppliers to ensure that we operate responsibly, act socially, and conserve resources. These rules are reviewed regularly and can be found in our purchasing policy.

Fair and cooperative

With the BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative) certificate, we ensure that our supply chain meets strict social standards and is continuously monitored. In addition, we consciously award contracts to integrative companies such as GWS and Teamworks in order to support people with disabilities and actively involve them in our processes.

Certified products

The majority of our products are OEKO-TEX® certified. This means that these products are free of harmful substances and pose no health risks. This starts with the tanning process. They are continuously tested by independent institutes. We are proud that our OEKO-TEX® certificate covers not only lambskin material, but also all other components of our products, such as lambskin footmuffs, health products, and more.

Our cowhides are certified by the Leather Working Group (LWG), a global community committed to sustainable and responsible leather production that promotes the highest social and environmental standards.

Sustainable consumption through durable products

Sustainability begins with durability. By offering durable lambskin products at Fellhof, we consciously support sustainable consumption. When you buy less, you need fewer raw materials and generate less waste. That's good for the environment.

✓ Photovoltaic system

The Fellhof headquarters in Hof near Salzburg uses 100% green electricity. When the sun is shining, the photovoltaic system on the company roof supplies enough energy so that the surplus electricity can be fed into an energy community. If necessary, we receive electricity back from the “Erneuerbare-Energie-Gemeinschaft Fuschler Ache” (Fuschler Ache Renewable Energy Community). Any additional electricity requirements are covered by regional green electricity producers.

✓ Electric vehicles

Three of our company vehicles are already electric. Switching to electric vehicles is an important step toward reducing emissions.

✓ Modern technology

We use EDITEL's EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) system. This has enabled us to digitize and simplify the exchange of documents with our sales partners. Not only does this save time, it also reduces paper consumption and transport costs.

✓ Conversion to modern LED lighting

The conversion of the lighting to modern LEDs throughout the headquarters, including the warehouse, the Fellhof shopping world, and all Fellhof stores, enables significant energy savings and a reduction in CO₂ emissions. It is also a durable, environmentally friendly, and economically efficient lighting solution.

✓ CO₂-neutral parcel shipping

We ship our parcels with Austrian Post. The CO₂-neutral delivery of shipments protects the climate.

✓ Waste separation

Fellhof has always focused on waste prevention and clean waste separation. An optimized waste separation system has now been introduced, which also raises employee awareness of waste separation in the office, warehouse, and kitchen and increases the recycling rate. This helps to reduce the impact on the environment.

✓ Back fitness program and 4-day week

Promoting health in the workplace is an essential aspect of our social sustainability initiatives. Both sitting at a desk and lifting heavy loads put strain on the body in the long term. The weekly back fitness program in the winter season and the 4-day week in summer provide an important balance to everyday working life and offer sufficient time for recovery.

✓ Company bike with bike leasing

Fellhof now offers bike leasing as an employee bonus – a contribution to the health of our employees and to reducing CO₂ emissions. Through environmentally friendly mobility, we promote a sustainable lifestyle and support a greener working day.

✓ Green space for employees

Employees at the Hof site near Salzburg have access to a green space. In their free time, they have the opportunity to set up raised beds or similar and plant them. This promotes environmental awareness and contributes to the creation of a proactive social working environment.

✓ Wildflower meadow

Our project to create a colorful wildflower meadow has been successfully implemented! Since summer 2025, a small paradise has been blooming that not only pleases the eye but also promotes biodiversity. With this floral oasis, we are giving wild bees and insects a home and thus contributing to their protection—because even the smallest creatures deserve a colorful retreat.

Fellhof bees (in progress)

We are delighted that hard-working bees will soon feel at home at the Fellhof headquarters. We expect the first blossom honey by winter 2025/26. Three hard-working bee colonies are already buzzing away, cared for by a beekeeper from Hof. By supporting local bees and regional honey production, we want to give something special back to our most important partners – perhaps soon in the form of a honey-sweet Christmas gift!
